For a description of how we go about taking trees down and our process, head over to the Tree Cutting page. But let me add that this is ultimately what we love to do the most.
Be able to walk up to a whole tree at the beginning of the day and leave at night with nothing there except a pile of firewood. Its oddly satisfying for us.
We begin the day by getting sky high and begin dropping the outer limbs and work our way around moving back toward the trunk. When we get down to the trunk we are going to cut it and dismantle it from the top down in probably 4 foot sections.
There's a sweet spot in the size that we cut down that's not long enough to be dangerous, and not short enough to hit the ground and take a funny bounce. We don't like bouncing logs..... It doesn't end well....
We will get down to the stump and if you want to leave it and have you a nice outdoor coffee table then you can. Otherwise if you ask us to we will be glad to grind it down into nothingness (see stump grinding)
